StudyQuestions - NC - FieldTrip
The Videoconferencing Field Trip should be well understood if the following
questions can be answered:
- How does the amount of network bandwidth
consumed differ when one deals with various videoconferencing systems?
- How does video and audio quality differ for these systems?
- How does selection of algorithms for compression relate
to video and audio quality achieved with these systems?
- Which system seems to be most computationally expensive? Why?
- If student-faculty communication were to take place using
videoconferencing, what would be the role and value of its support
with a shared whiteboard?
- How could the multicasting like MBONE reduce network traffic if
four sites were to engage in an interactive conference,
each sending and receiving with each of the other three?
- What are a few advantages of having a dedicated network connection
(e.g., ISDN connection) for videoconferencing instead of sharing a
packet switched network (e.g., Internet)?
