RinerMOO
What RinerMOO is
RinerMOO is a text-based virtual world set up as a learning tool for
discussion and interaction among students at Riner Elementary School.
It belongs to a set of network-based virtual worlds known as a
Multi-User Dimension (MUD), and is specifically implemented using a
MUD Object-Oriented (MOO) using the LambdaMOO server and JHCore
generic database.
If you are a Riner Elementary School student or an associate of the
Riner Elementary School and would like a character in RinerMOO, then
email Rayzer, letting him know
who you are, how you are associated with Riner Elementary School,
what your e-mail address is, and what your first two choices for your
character's name are. If approved, you will get an e-mail message
telling you what your character's name will be, and what your password is."
To get started on MUDs, you might want to read the
MUD Starter Kit.
Where RinerMOO is
RinerMOO is hosted on a computer at the Virginia Tech Department of Computer Science. To reach RinerMOO, you can
telnet to host ei.cs.vt.edu at port 7531.
However, we recommend that you download a MUD client program specific to your computer system.
A MUD client provides a much cleaner and enjoyable usable interface than a simple telnet session.
You can get MUD client programs at the following sites:
You can see a brief listing of basic MOO commands in the
user's manual.
