Due to scheduling problems, the workshop was not help on Nov. 5. Rather, there were informal discussions with those who had signed up. Please contact fox@vt.edu if you have interest in getting involved, regarding educational resources or curricula or both.
For reference, please see background information given in the talk presented at ACM Multimedia'99. You can read a PDF version (200K) of a preprint of the paper or see the slides from the presentation in either PDF (1.2M) or PowerPoint (Office 2000 version, 1.7M) forms.

This 1-day workshop will be held on Nov. 5, 1999 after the main portion of the Seventh ACM International Multimedia Conference, MM'99.
This workshop is designed for all stake holders in interactive multimedia education, e.g.,
Individuals interested in attending should send, at a minimum, the following items to Rachelle Heller (sheller@seas.gwu.edu).
Attendees are encouraged to explore the CRIM Web site and to work with the online collection that is part of the digital library for the Computer Science Teaching Center (CSTC).
The workshop will have both lecture and hands-on discussions. Demonstrations will be included in the presentation of the CRIM repository.
The morning will focus on the digital library of IMM resources, and the afternoon on curriculum for IMM. The workshop coordinators will present for about an hour during each of the parts, followed by about an hour of short presentations by other attendees and an hour of discussion in small groups or plenary. At the end of the day a plenary session will recap results and finalize a plan for submitting the curricular guidelines for review and publication.
This 1-day workshop is designed to introduce the CRIM digital library for materials in teaching interactive multimedia (IMM) at the university level, and to reach consensus regarding proposed curriculum guidelines for the field. It extends beyond what was covered in a similar workshop (see http://info.acm.org/sigmm/MM98/work2.html) at MM'98, but also is open to those new to this topic.
In the morning, attendees will discuss CRIM and its materials:
The afternoon session will broaden the discussion to consider a series of proposals for curriculum in various types of courses relating to interactive multimedia (see http://ei.cs.vt.edu/~crim/onlcour.html), e.g.:
Once completed, the curriculum will be submitted for release by ACM and by IEEE-CS.
