Installing ELF90 and PFE

Assumes that
    - you will install and operate all the tools in c:\elf90 directory
    - temporary directory c:\temp may not exist - create it before you start
    - you are running Windows 95 or Windows NT

Download ELF90 from the Internet:

  1. Go to the Lahey's ELF90 page: http://www.lahey.com/elfpage.htm
  2. Click on "Download Essential Lahey Fortran 90"
  3. Fill the questionnaire and click on "Download"
  4. In the Save dialog box, select c:\temp as the folder and click the Save button. This will save the "elf.exe" file to your folder.
Installing ELF90 to your computer (Windows 95 Platform):
  1. Start Windows Explorer, go to c:\temp and double click "elf" (or "elf.exe") file. This will lunch the installation program.
  2. Follow the instructions to install ELF90 to your computer. The default installation directory is "c:\elf90"
Download PFE  from the Internet:
  1. Go to the PFE  page: http://www.lancs.ac.uk/people/cpaap/pfe/pfefiles.htm
  2. Click on "32 Bit Edition"
  3. In the Save dialog box, select c:\temp as the folder and click the Save button. This will save the "pfe100i.zip" file to your folder.
  4. You will need a program that can uncompress ZIP files - if you don't have any, get WinZip Evaluation Version from http://www.winzip.com
Installing PFE to your computer (Windows 95 Platform):
  1. Start Windows Explorer, go to c:\temp and double click "pfe100i" (or "pfe100i.zip") file
  2. This will launch the program that will unzip the pfe files - if it doesn't, run WinZip manually and open "c:\temp\pfe100i.zip"
  3. Extract the files to c:\elf90 directory
  4. Installation is complete. Go on to the Using PFE section
