MS Campus Agreement Software
Download/Installation of MS Visual C++

The
following information is only for Fall '99 CS entering students who have purchased
the Microsoft Campus Agreement Software package from the Information
Technology Acquisitions department. This does NOT apply to any other
students. |

The network
download/installation of MS Visual Studio is now available.
·
Students should only download MS Visual C++ component of Visual
Studio at this time. Later in the term students will be able to download all of
the MS Visual Studio components, but absolutely should NOT do so at this time. Only the Visual C++, Data Access, and Tools components of
the MS Visual Studio system is required at this time for download/installation.

The time required for
downloading/installing MS Visual C++, Data Access, and Tools components is expected
to be in excess of 30 minutes. Students should expect that the process will
take longer due to the server/network load.

Students NOT
following the instructions, (e.g., attempting to download/install all of the MS
Developer Studio system), can expect a download/install time of 5 hours
or more. This will seriously affect the load on the server/network and may
result in connection time limitations being enacted. Students remaining
connected beyond the required download/install time WILL
BE MANUALLY DISCONNECTED AND WILL BE UNABLE TO DOWNLOAD ANY FURTHER SOFTWARE
AVAILABLE FROM THE SERVER!

The connection and
install/download instructions are online at the College of Engineering Software
Distribution Server. Students who have purchased the software will need to register their PID
with the server and then follow the posted instructions.

Problems with the
download/installations should be sent via
email to the College of
Engineering Computer Swat Team.
