CS1044 Summer 1999 FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions for Introduction to Programming with C++

Question: How come this class takes so much time and effort?

Answer: CS 1044 is an intensive programming class. In a regular semester, it would probably require two to three times the effort of a traditional literature course (especially if this is your first programming course). Furthermore, with the accelerated summer schedule, we have to cover all of this material with only 3/4 of the usual number of class meetings and 1/3 the usual number of weekends in between classes.

Question: Can I take another class at the same time as this one?

Answer: No. See above.

Question: Can you scale back the reading and programming assignments to make the course easier?

Answer: The reading and programming assignments have already been scaled back for the reduced summer schedule.

Question: How do I know when I'm too far behind?

Answer: If you don't understand the team assignments and can't complete the homework assignments, you need to put additional time and effort into the course. If you can't schedule additional time and energy, then you should consider dropping the course and taking it again during a regular semester.
