Help Features

Online Help

• To access the online help texts, first choose "Contents" from the Help menu. A window similar to the one on the right should appear on your screen. (The default IDE interface displays the help contents window at the left of the IDE window. It is automatically displayed when no workspace is open.)

  
  

  You can navigate through the help files the same way you navigate directories using Windows Explorer.
  
  

   

  Searching Help

  Online help is also searchable. To access the searchable help texts, choose the Search... option from the help menu.

   

   

  You should be presented with a screen similar to this:

  Enter a keyword to view a index list of related topic entries.
  Select a topic entry and choose List Topics to display the topic title entries.
  Select the title of the topic you wish to view and choose Display
  Selecting Integrated Debugger from the above title list displays the following InfoViewer Topic Window:
  

Querying Help

• If you choose the Query tab of the Search window, you can search for a keyword directly.

• Enter a keyword for which you wish to search.
  Click the Query button when you are ready to execute your search.
  You will then be presented with a query Results List window. An example of which is shown below:
  

• To access a help page, simply double click on it. Scrolling down the above list and selecting "How Do I ... Topics: Debugging" displays the InfoViewer Topic window below:

• The MS Visual C/C++ IDE Help is a hypertext system similar to the Web. Simply click on one of the red lines or words to jump to the linked documentation.
