Sending Messages

Now you will test your configuration by sending a message to yourself.

  1. Choose New Message from the Message menu.

  2. Enter your email address (username@vt.edu) in the To: field.

Screen Shot of the Message Editing display

  3. Tab to the Subject: field and enter a subject for the message (ie. "test message").

  4. Tab to the body of the message and enter the text of your message.

  5. In the CC: field, type a second email address you want to send the mail to. The CC stands for Carbon Copy, and does just that, sends the mail message to the address you enter on this line in addition to the primary receipient.

  6. The BCC: field is used for sending a Blind Carbon Copy of the message to someone. When the receipients enumerated in the To: and CC: fields receive the message, they will not see that the mail was also sent to the person listed in the BCC: field.

  7. Click the Send button when you have completed typing in your message.

  8. The message should be mailed and a copy of it stored in your out box.

Now you are ready to try to check your mail using Eudora.
