WS FTP Download Example

You will now learn how to use WS FTP by downloading Eudora Light
for windows.
To do so please follow these instructions as you read
along with this tutorial.
- Load WS FTP as described in the previous
section.
- Click on the "Profile Name" box and select "Eudora". If this
profile is not in your profile list, type
ftp.qualcomm.com in the hostname box and check the
"Anonymous Login" box.
- Click on the "OK" button.
You should now see the following
similar screen:

The WS FTP Session connection window elements are described
below:
- Local System
- The left side of the screen displays information about your
local PC.
- Remote System
- The right side of the screen displays information about the
remote system.
- Directory
- The current directory you are in. The drop down list stores
recent directories.
- Directory Listing
- Lists the files in the current directory. You can navigate
directory structures by double clicking on them. You can transfer
files by double clicking on them.
- Directory Buttons
-
- ChgDir
- Changes the current directory.
- MkDir
- Creates a new directory.
- View
- Views the currently selected file(s).
- Exec
- Executes the currently selected file(s).
- Rename
- Renames the currently selected file(s).
- Delete
- Deletes the currently selected file(s).
- DirInfo
- Displays detailed information about the current
directory.
- Transfer Type Checkboxes

- ASCII
- Check this box if you are transferring ASCII files (text
files).
- Binary
- Check this box if you are transferring Binary files.
- Auto
- Check this box if you want WS FTP to automatically
determine which type of file you are transferring.
- Transfer Buttons
-
- Left Arrow
- Gets selected files from the remote machine and puts them
on your machine.
- Right Arrow
- Puts selected files from your machine on remote
machine.
- Status Window
- Displays information about the connection and transfer
statistics.
- Session Commands
-
- Close
- Closes the current connection.
- Cancel
- Cancels the current operation.
- LogWnd
- Brings up a window with log information.
- Help
- Starts WS FTP's help utility.
- Options
- Allows you to set options for WS FTP
- About
- Displays information about WS FTP and its author.
- Exit
- Exit from WS FTP.
- On the remote system, (the right hand side
listing), maneuver into the eudora directory by double clicking on
the word "eudora".
- You will notice that the listing of files on the right hand
side has changed, (you are now in the eudora directory). Now go to
the eudoralight directory in the same manner. Then go to
the windows and then the english directory, and
then the [latest version] directory. You should
see something similar to this:

- Now navigate to a directory on your computer, (the left hand
side), where you want to store the eudora archive file.
- Once you are in a suitable directory, double click on
eulx0x.exe, (or the latest version of the file), on the
right hand side. This will initiate download of the file to your
computer. (Alternatively, you can select the eulx0x.exe
file and hit the '<-' button.)
You should see a transfer status
box appear:

- Congratulations, you have successfully downloaded Eudora
Light.
