If you are a Virginia Tech student or employee with an active PID, you can get a Filebox in which to put your WWW pages. Filebox is a service that provides users with filespace on a WEB server machine, without having to give each user a login account.
To get a filebox, email your request to filebox@vt.edu. Be sure to include your PID. Allow at least 3-5 work days for your filebox request to be processed.

Accessing Filebox:
|
Here's a brief step-by-step description of how to upload HTML documents to a Vt filebox. For more detailed info go to the VT Filebox site.
cd filebox/[capital letter of 1st character of yourPID]/[yourPID]/,
(If your default directory is different when you login through FTP, check with the pwd (print working dir command from within ftp) to see if it is different; or traverse to the correct directory if you are using a FTP client program).
Note that "index.html" is the default homepage for most html servers. That is, if you have a file named "index.html", most html servers will consider that the homepage for that directory and will automatically load the it when someone accesses your directory.

Note the brackets in the URL. Do NOT use the brackets in your URLs. Do NOT use exactly what is printed within the brackets. Replace your OWN information for what is within the brackets.
View the instructions for doing so at http://www.vt.edu:10021/stuhome/submit.html
