CS5034 Fall 1997: Course Listserv

CS5034 has a listserv. This listserv will be the source of much important information, including notices about assignments, tests, etc. It will be the primary source of notifications regarding corrections and updates to assignments. It is also provides a forum for students to ask questions to the class, soliciting clarifications and help on programming assignments, etc.

ALL students in the course should subscribe to the listserv. To do so, send email to "listserv@ei.cs.vt.edu" with a message containing the following line:

subscribe cs5034-l

Please note that you may send email to the listserv ONLY from an account that has subscribed to the listserv.

Flaming will not be tolorated on the listserv. If necessary, the instructor will remove violators of this rule from the listserv.

The CS5034-l listserv (cs5034-l on "ei") is archived. If you wish to see the archived messages, this is easily done as follows. The messages for each month are archived in a separate file, named "cs5034-l.yymm" where "yymm" are the year and month. To get an index of available files, send a message to listserv@ei.cs.vt.edu containing the line "index cs2604-l". To get any particular file (e.g., a monthly archive file), send a message containing a line such as "get cs5034-l cs5034-l.9708" to get the file for August, 1997. Multiple commands can be sent within one message. For example,

get cs5034-l cs5034-l.9708
get cs5034-l cs5034-l.9709
