Quizes for this course are designed to take 20 - 50 minutes. You are responsible for making sure that you do not spend more than 50 minutes on a quiz, unless the instructor agrees otherwise. You should work on your own, but may refer to books and notes. The idea, however, is to demonstrate that you know the key ideas.
Follow instructions on each question. However, unless told otherwise, reply with a short answer, or short essay. In no case should you write more than one page in response to a question. Each question is worth 20 points.
It is perfectly fine, and indeed recommended, for you to use a computer to prepare your response, and to turn in your exam by electronic mail, to fox@fox.cs.vt.edu. When you are done, please return the question booklet to the instructor. These are not to be left around, or shown to anyone else.
For multiple choice questions, identify the single best answer.
