Project Suggestion: Set Top Box

• Description:

  Dr. Chen has carried out work with students regarding set top boxes and is interested in continuing this effort.

  In particular, in fall 2000 he supervised an independent study project with a student at the NVC working on the set-top box project. They investigated some design issues such as buffer management, data placement and retrieval schemes, maximum number of video streams allowed, response time of interactive functions, and loss probability, etc. by means of a simulation model based on JavaSim. A report is available about this work and can be sent to any student wanting more details.
