The class met Dr. Edward A. Fox who explained, much to my surprise, that this class would be a "paperless course". We would utilize the INTERNET for obtaining course materials, syllabus, assignments, quizzes, readings, etc. Furthermore, we would transmit class and article summaries, quizzes and other assignments to the instructor via e-mail. I must admit that I was tantalized and horrified all at once about this method of teaching. See, I have never in my life logged into the INTERNET. To be honest, after I leave work, I try not to go near a computer. However, I've decided to keep an open mind and delve into the experience of the "NET".
We also took care of several administrative issues in order to obtain logon ids and computer accesses. Finally, we had a brief introduction to Digital Libraries and a demonstration of the On-line Course materials in the computer lab. It was, to say the least, a very interesting evening.
