The following images (of a student who took CS5604 in 1993) illustrate the quality that results from using JPEG image compression. The number assigned to each is the parameter used with the "cjpeg" program. Value 100 indicates that the quantization parameters are all one, so little loss results. Lower values indicate more compression, with maximum possible resulting from parameter zero (0). The original image was in TIFF format, but may not display on your computer if you lack some type of image display program.
