18 December: GRADES for the course. Click here to see the pdf file.

1 December: new page with links to the group projects. All the group projects are not here yet.

11 November: link suggested by Hunter Nuttall: http://www.alice.org/stage3.htm.   Stage 3 is a research group at Carnegie Mellon University that develops virtual environments using principles from engineering and psychology.  They used to be at UVA, and there were many opportunities for students to get involved.  That was where I first saw the Star Wars VR simulator 3 years ago, something that VT's CAVE has just recently been able to duplicate.

8 September: Page added: Group of students for the project.

26 August: Page added: in-class presentations.

20 August: Note that both of the coursepacks for this course were given the same title (etc) information by the Bookstore. If you go to the Bookstore and they are out of one of the coursepacks, do not just ask for more copies "by name." You need to request them by number. The coursepack of assorted readings is No 129; the coursepack of my book "Making Use" is No 159. Sorry.

Please let me know which in-class presentation you are going to do. Remember that the first set of in-class "conference paper" reports is September 23. Naturally, I will grade the first volunteers taking into account their courage.

I have marked the readings that are intended for student presentation with a "+" in the week-by-week view of the course; when a reading has been taken by someone (that is, when someone volunteers to present it in class), I'll update it to an "*" in the week-by-week listing Ñ meaning it is not available for student presentation. Note that students can also volunteer to present their homework assignments #2 and #3 on 6 October and 9 November, respectively.
