SCENARIO 6

Bill lives in Blacksburg for 3 months. He wants to have more information about the water system in Blacksburg. He has his own account in MOOsburg and knows well how to use it. He goes to the Municipal Building Lobby. Here he tries Public Works. One link is available, so he clicks on it. In the web-frame, the Blacksburg utilities page is displayed. He clicks on different links, finds the information he  looks for and wants now return to MOOsburg. He tries the back button (browser) but realizes he'll have to do that many times. He clicks on help (toolbar) and the help page appears. Now he clicks on look and is happy to find that he is still in MOOsburg.

CLAIMS ANALYSIS OF SCENARIO 6

  • Links to Local (Blacksburg) information in the main frame:
    ... are useful because the number of windows opened is minimal.
    ... help strengthen the users' feeling that MOOsburg is indeed the virtual Blacksburg. The mapping between the offices in the Municipal Building and their web-sites is good.
  • No specific information available to help the user go back to the MOOsburg Frame:
    ... avoids using too much icons in the toolbar. The user cannot see to many things all at the same time, so it is appropriate not to show something useful only from time to time
    ... but the novice users can be very disappointed. Some help should be available for them. Indeed, most of the users of MOOsburg won't be computer experts.

A "Windows toolbar" (a small browser window with the "always on top" property) could provide some contextual help to the novice users and the expert users should be able to close it.
