Participants consisted of 38 undergraduate students enrolled in CS 3604 during the Fall 1997 semester. These participants consisted of 36 students majoring in Computer Science, one student majoring in Computer Science as well as Mathematics, and one student majoring in Computer Science and Computer Engineering. All students were enrolled at Virginia Tech as either Juniors or Seniors, with the exception of one Sophomore-level student. All participants considered themselves to be either "experienced" or "expert" computer users, had experience constructing web pages, and spent a mean of 10.38 hours per week (standard deviation = 9.29 hours per week) browsing web pages. Participants ranged in age from 19 to 23 years old (mean = 21.03 years, standard deviation = 1.09 years), signed an informed consent form, and were be treated in accordance with the APA ethical principles and code of conduct (1997).
