HCI Class Project Fall 1997
The goal of this project is to make an evaluation of the Professionalism in Computing Web site using a Scenario Based Claims Analysis approach. The course Professionalism in Computing site is composed of two parts: the Professionalism in Computing part and another part concerned with computer science as a career. However, these two parts offer two completely different sites. This first site is the richest one (organization, wide range of resources, etc...) and is the one treated in detail in our project.
The site can be seen as a source of resources for two kind of users:
- Students
The site not only proposes materials for the course (information, lectures, links, etc.) but also opportunities for the students to interact with their classmates through the on-line debate. Therefore, in this project, we have chosen to analyze the site from these two different perspectives. In each of these perspectives we have focused on interface and social issues. We then suggest solutions to a few issues brought up by the evaluation of the web site.
- Professors
The pages are organized in a digital library structure; therefore they can be easily reused in another site by a professor teaching a similar course.
