The goal of this project was to produce recommendations to improve the Banner Finance system.
Administrative Information Systems (AIS) at Virginia Tech has initiated the Banner-2000 project, an online information system, destined to facilitate operation of and transactions among various university departments.
FRS, the former information system at the university, had to be replaced by Banner, in order to fulfill year 2000 compliance. This transition is a part of the Year 2000 Project at Virginia Tech.
Currently, Banner consists of four parts: Human Resources, Finance, Alumni/Development, and Student Systems. Our project was focused on Banner Finance, which has been in use since July 1998. The system is fairly new, and therefore, a significant number of improvements are possible.
