Methodology
Banner Finance is a fairly complicated system. In order to get familiar with its capabilities, we attended the Banner Finance 'Boot Camp' training course administered by the Banner Finance Project Team. Also, attending this course provided us with a better understanding of common finance terminology.
Due to the lack of our own experience with Banner Finance, we decided to conduct interviews with users of the system to elicit real-life scenarios. We interviewed four university employees, three of which used Banner Finance on a daily basis, and one person used Banner Finance once in a month or so. All interviewees were from different departments and they had to perform different sets of operations for their duties.
Based on the four interviews, we came up with comprehensive scenarios that represent typical uses and concerns about Banner Finance.
Better results could be gained by considering a larger selection of user categories, but is out of scope of this project.
