3) Using 5 paper towels of the same brand "Scott", we placed the chips in a circle on the paper towels.

4) Leave them there for 15 minutes then remove the chips and throw them away.

5) Holding the paper towels up to the light, compare the amount of grease spots that the chips left on each paper towel. The larger the grease spots the more grease there was!

Our prediction was that Lays brand potato chips would be the greaseist, but we found out in the experiment that Fretoes was the greaseist. Blacksburg High School Results:

Note: From each brand of potato chips we selected 10 chips of the same size. However we made each circle of broken chips 1\4 inches deep.

Pringles: 5 inch diameter. The largest grease diameter was 3\8" diameter. They were not very greasy. However the largest grease mark was 1\2".

Fretoes: 4 inch diameter. Was extremely greasy. The grease covered the entire area and even spread passed the chip line.

Lays: 6 inch diameter. The largest grease mark was 2 inches in diameter. These chips were very close to Wise potato chips in grease patterns, however they were greasier.

Doritos: 6 inch diameter. The largest grease mark on the Scott paper towels was 1\4 "The Dorito chips had the same grease pattern as Pringles, however the Doritos were slightly greasier.

The final results came in as such, greasiest to least greasiest.

Fretos: The results were large and dense grease spots on the paper towel.

Wise: Were pretty much the same as Fretos, although Fretos grease spots were more dense.

Lays: There wasn't very many grease spots, except for maybe a couple but they were large marks.

Doritos: The cheese film off of the chips got in the way of seeing the grease spots. But there still were some that were noticable.

Pringles: Just a few little grease spots, probably from the salt on the chips.

I bought five different brands of potato chips: I had Lays, Wise, Fretos, Doritos and Pringles. I used Scott paper towels for testing the potato chips. Then I selected 10 chips of the exact size and individually crushed them on the paper towel, and waited for results.

Lays: There were only a couple of grease spots but they were pretty large.

Wise: Wise had a large grease spot, and it was thick but not as thick as Fretos.

Fretos: Fretos had the largest grease spot of them all. The biggest grease spot was almost an inch around.

Doritos: Doritos had a very little grease spot, and there was a little bit of cheese.

Pringles: Pringles had the smallest grease spot of them all, and there weren't very many grease spots either.
