Craig Ganoe (ganoe@vt.edu)
HCI (or other behavioral, experimental design, etc.) courses taken:
In fall 97, I took CS5714 Usability Engineering and CS5724 Models and Theories of HCI. Along with this class, I am currently enrolled in CS6724 Advanced Topics in HCI where we are looking at HCI methodologies and EDCI 5984 Ethnography of Cyberspace. Many moons ago at Penn State, I took INSYS 441 Design, Development and Evaluation of Computer Based Instruction.

Software development skills:
I have 5 years of software development experience using C and C++ with X / Motif and InterViews (a C++ interface toolkit out of Stanford) along with a little Ada programming. I've also done some development with various authoring packages (Authorware, Hypercard and Toolbook) and prototyping last semester in Visual Basic. I've been doing most of my recent stuff in Java, but I'm not a pro at it yet.

Research interests:
Practically anything HCI would be a good place to start, along with software engineering and OO methods. I am currently working with the department's Learning in Networked Communities (LiNC) project as the technical lead for their software development (some of which will be seen in this class).

Personal information:
When I'm not working on school stuff, it's usually hiking or volleyball for me. I play with the VT Men's Volleyball Club Team. Backpacking, ice skating, biking and lots of other stuff as well. I'll try most anything at least once. You can look at my web page too if you like.

Known schedule constraints:
I have classes, meetings and practice all between 3pm and 7pm, Monday through Friday.
