Lynn Jones (lwjones@vt.edu)
HCI (or other behavioral, experimental design, etc.) courses taken:
None, but my thesis project with Dr. Shaffer will involve making the Sieve project (started in last year's CSCW course and mentioned in class) more useable.

Software development skills:
Right now I'm doing mostly Java programming. I also like C++ and have had experience with database programming (Visual FoxPro, Paradox, etc), and HTML (of course) and VRML (virtual reality markup language, 3-D stuff).

Research interests:
Ultimately, I would like to do research in an area called data mining which combines AI, information retrieval, and more, with the goal of extracting information from data. There are many performance and feasibility issues which certainly include HCI and collaboration. (Maybe Dr. Rosson can get me an interview with Bernice Rogowitz at T.J. Watson :-)

Personal information:
There just ain't much I don't like! Among the top of my list: family and friends, skiing, basketball, football, (pretty much all sports), movies, food, my car (when it's clean), happy hour... I like to combine some of these things too: for example, feeding my friends a pot of chili during the Super Bowl. I tend to drive people nuts because I have to be doing something all the time. But, hey, I have a good time!

Known schedule constraints:
Class at 9:00 MWF, this class, and a meeting every other Wednesday 10:00-11:00.
