Christina Ann Smith (chsmith2@vt.edu)
HCI (or other behavioral, experimental design, etc.) courses taken:
I have taken CS 3724 - Introduction to HCI and CS 5724 - Models and Theories of HCI. I did undergraduate research last semester (continuing as an independent study this semester) with Dr. Rosson and Robert Zinger. We are building a Virtual Science Fair. I am obtaining a minor in Psychology, so I have taken courses such as Psychology of Personality, Psychological Research methods, etc., and this semester I am taking Psychology of Learning.

Software development skills:
I have primarily devloped prototypes for class projects using HTML and a little CGI. I want to learn Java, but just haven't had a chance to do so lately. I worked for one semester with Software Technologies Laboratory where I helped develop software written in FoxPro. I like to program in C and C++.

Research interests:
I am interested in doing research in HCI, but am not quite sure in what specific areas I want to focus. I am working with Dr. Rosson and Robert Zinger on the Virtual Science Fair this semester (and last) and I am enjoying it a lot!

Personal information:
I am getting married on June 6th to Patrick Van Metre -- I have been very busy trying to organize that from school since the wedding is going to be in Northern VA. I am in the 5-yr MS/BS program and I like to sing and play guitar. I used to sing with the New Virginians here at Tech, and have been playing guitar for almost 15 years now.

Known schedule constraints:
I have class from 9-10 and 1-2 on MWF along with this class. I will have a meeting once a week for my Independent Study, but I don't know when that will be yet, and I will probably be tied up on several evenings running user sessions.
