Brief mention will be made of several NSF-funded projects including A User-Centered Database from the Computer Science Literature, Interactive Learning with a Digital Library in Computer Science, Computer Science Teaching Center, and Curriculum Resources in Interactive Multimedia. Some aspects of the US Dept. of Education funded project that is developing the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations will be considered. Biographical Sketch: Dr. Edward A. Fox holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science from Cornell University, and a B.S. from M.I.T. Since 1983 he has been at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VPI&SU), where he serves as Associate Director for Research at the Computing Center, and Professor of Computer Science. He has been involved in research, education and service related mostly to digital libraries, information storage and retrieval, educational technologies, hypertext/hypermedia/ multimedia, computational linguistics, CD-ROM and optical disc technology, electronic publishing, and expert systems.
