DL Project Suggestion: CS History Museum

• Goal: Extend CS Virtual History Museum effort into NSDL
• Contact information: Professor JAN Lee (janlee@cs.vt.edu) and the instructor
• Required background: interest in the history of computing, virtual museums, and computing education
• Description: Dr. Lee has a number of resources in various media forms related to the history of computing, and works with others with similar interest. These all need to be captured, converted, and organized for access.

  This project aims to extend the CS History Museum (see http://video.dlib.vt.edu/~history, updated by a project group last AY) to become an integral part of NSDL (see refs. 1 and 2). First, students should meet with Dr. Lee and become familiar with the work done already. Second, they should work with Dr. Lee and the instructor to plan a proposal to NSF to turn this effort into an ongoing part of the NSDL. Third, they should engage in some design and prototyping to help make that proposal more solid.
