HyTime: module interdependencies
- HyTime is a complex international standard dealing with multimedia and other time-based objects, their performance and playback, and linking.
- To use HyTime, you can invoke all or just part of it. This is controlled by what modules are desired.
- Modules depend on each other. If a module is needed and depends on another, that other must be invoked too.
- Links refer to locations, which can be described using some finite coordinate space (e.g., 2-D or 3-D space with time) or using other location addresses (e.g., word number, verse number).
- HyTime is implemented as an extension to SGML.
- HyTime has special interest to the researcher, since it allows dealing with multimedia and hypermedia at an abstract level.
- HyTime will be of interest to developers since it could support interchange between authoring systems, though scripting would have to be interpreted separately.
