Authoring: multimedia publishing stages
- Separate processing, especially early on, is required for each media type.
- Multimedia objects must be collected, selected, edited (to produce objects and decision lists), and filed.
- Preparation deals with digitizing, clean up and enhancement, and compression. Typical tools for text and graphics processing will be used for those media.
- Publishing requires ordering and sequencing, organization of the application, layout in time and space, linking, storing in a database or hyperbase, adding scripting and interaction, and correlating multiple representations for a smooth and highly interactive application.
- Use requires packaging for delivery over a network or on optical storage devices.
- In the case of hyperbases, the users may add in links or other enhancements.
