This CD-ROM application guides the user through a visit to the National Gallery in London. There are numerous views or ways to access the large number of images and explanations of paintings. Animations illustrate how certain paintings exemplify principles and practices of art, how works have been restored, how perspective drawing operates, etc. One can take a historical tour, study the works of particular painters, browse geographically, or follow the many hypertext links. Narrations explain some of the most important characteristics of the collection.
