[Note: the following is a mail msg from Dr. Lee, slightly edited - eaf] Date: Wed, 17 Jan 1996 13:53:07 -0500 (EST) From: JAN Lee Subject: 60 second infomercial There is a possibility of our putting together a 60 second infomercial on the department, that in conjunction with similar pieces from CpE and our sister departments at UVa, we can use to show how we are working hard for the Commonwealth. Based on the notion that there is going to be some publicity in the next months about the 50th anniversary of computing (including a new postage stamp for example) we may be able to distribute a video to local and regional TV stations to show off our capabilities. I have a 0th draft of what might be included (with lots of question marks). As much as possible we need to use materials that are ALREADY available, so if you have something PLEASE let me know ASAP. 60 seconds of video is a long time for visuals though not necessarily for voice. Your comments and suggestions and contributions are welcomed. 60 second "Infomercial" on Computer Science at Virginia Tech Opening: Computing is 50 years old in 1996 and the CS department is 25 years old Virginia Tech Campus (media services?)
