CS4624 StorySpace Webs

Please look over the PDF tutorial on Storyspace.

From the desktop menu pages one can access Storyspaces using four tools that each can be launched from On Guard: Hypergate, Storyspace, Storyspace Demo, and Writing Space. [Note, as of 1/29 only Storyspace is accessible; others will be added by the lab staff in the future.]

Note that only when you have launched Storyspace or Storyspace Demo will you "see" any of the Storyspace documents; only when you have launched Writing Space will you see Writing Space documents; etc.

There are 8 hypertexts available. The first is accessible in the CS4984 folder, and the others are accessible in the Applications folder. To access the first, cs4984w7, an old version of the course notes, use the File menu to Open the proper folder and proper file after going up to the Desktop and then down into one of the Assignments folders (that has the CS4984 folder), then down into CS4984. You will see cs4984w7 listed in the dialog box, so just open it.

The other 7 hypertexts are on another disk. After launching Storyspace (or another of the applications available), be sure to use the File menu to Open the proper folder and proper file after going up to the Desktop and then down into Software, then into Applications, and then Storyspace.

The 7 hypertexts provided there include:

NOTE: We only have a 10 user license for Storyspace, so if a 11 person come to the lab to use it, they will have to wait. However, for the sake of our assignments, students need only use Storyspace Demo, for which there is no limit on the number of users. While Storyspace allows authoring (changing webs), Storyspace Demo only allows reading, but that suffices for the Exercise.
