Study Questions - NMC
What to look for in NMC or Readings:
- Consider in turn: video, audio, still images (i.e., photographs).
- From what devices can one capture and through what physical (cable)
connections?
- How can one monitor and/or preview what is to be captured?
- How does one select the appropriate portion(s)?
- What recording settings must be decided upon, and how does each one
effect processing time, the quality of the result, and the space required
for storage?
- What cleanup or post-processing or correction or other work is needed
after capture to "finish" the process to obtain a polished result?
- Considering the overall process, and all of the steps, can you suggest
simplification or automation?
- Consider each of the software packages you used.
- Was the interface good (usable, functional, fast, understandable)?
- Does it help you develop a better understanding of a media type:
- see the effects of controls of image intensity, contrast, white
and black levels, gamma, color balance;
- visualize audio waveforms or frequency spectrum;
- understand the interplay of time and sound;
- see how video is made up of a succession of frames
