What is Aesop? ============== Aesop is a tool which allows you to put PDF buttons, form elements, and movies and sounds into your source documents, before you distill them, and without using Exchange. Aesop lets you create EPS files which have PDF information embedded within them. You can place the EPS files into any container document which supports EPS import. When you print the document to a PostScript file and then distill it, the EPS files become active Acrobat objects. With Aesop you can create buttons which change their appearance when you roll the mouse over them or click on them. With Aesop you can place a 'Go to Next Page' button on the footer of your document or on a master page, and the button will appear and be functional on all pages in the resulting PDF file. And if you need to change the source document, go ahead. You won't be forced to re-create the media and interactivity in Exchange. What limitations are there? =========================== Currently Aesop only runs under Win95. Our Mac version will be in beta in February. This means you need to create the Aesop objects on an Win95 machine. But since they are EPS files, you can move them to other platforms and use them inside container documents there. And PDF files produced using Aesop work on all platforms supported by Acrobat 3.0. Of Course! What do you need to do? ======================= Get your instructor's permission and then just respond to this e-mail. I'll give you a login and password for the Aesop Beta Website. You can download the software and get started at once. What if you only use Macs? ========================== Respond anyway! The Macintosh version will be ready soon, and we'll need Beta testers there as well.
