Attendance and Late Work Policies
- No portion of the course grade will be based upon class attendance. The class is
intended to be be primarily a web-based class, therefore, it will not meet regularly.
- Students are solely responsible for missed lectures, course announcements or other class
activities in their absence.
- Students are responsible for making backup copies of all their work in this course. Loss
of work due to hard drive failure is NOT an acceptable excuse. Backup copies should be
maintained until after the end of the term and students have received their course grade.
Remember: Hard drives are mechanical devices. Hard drives fail. Plan for it. It is
inevitable!
- Waiting until the night before an assignment is due is perilous. Network access may be
disrupted at any time. Loss of network access is NOT a valid excuse for submitting
assignments late. Network response can become maddeningly slow at almost any moment. Plan
accordingly.
- Computer labs are available
around campus for students experiencing hardware or network problems.
- Personal computer failures are NOT acceptable reasons for failing to complete
assignments or quizzes on time. Computer labs around campus can be used when a student's
personal computer is unavailable.
- Only University recognized activities or excuses will be recognized, missed work due to
absence for any other reason will NOT be accepted.
- Extensions will be automatically granted for University recognized activities, provided
prior notice is received by the instructor. Athletes, etc. should contact the instructor
prior to the due date and explain the conflict.
- Medical excuses will granted with proof of medical service, (Univ. Student Health
Services, Dr.'s excuse).
- Students experiencing personal problems requiring extensions should contact their Dean's
office, (in the case of a death) and request them to send a notice to their instructors.
Other personal problems should be directed to the Univ. Counseling Center for an excuse.
- All other problems requiring an extension should be discussed with the instructor prior
to the assignment/test/quiz deadline.
