Practically every conceivable profession have their own professional organizations, from that of the American Marketing Association to the Association of Computing Machinery, and these professional organizations publish professional journals. Many of these are now on-line for easy access over the internet. These organizations have also rushed to place many of the back issues of their publications on line, making them available for researchers. Similarly, more informal newsletters, and magazines are also available online. Joining the major trade organizations are major daily newspapers such as the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and the LA Times.
Some electronic publications are free for anyone to use and are simply constantly updated web pages, such as the web site for Motor Trend magazine. Others, like commercial magazines or newspapers are by subscription only. These subscription-only electronic publications may require you to pay a fee to access their newsletters, or open an account, such as Schwab investment information.
Another type of electronic publications are listserv newsletters. Functionally, these work just like other listservs, although in some cases, a subscription fee might be charged by the provider.
