Document Conventions

Navigation

Most course documents will have a navigation frame (panel) in left side of your viewer window.

Page Traversal

Within many of the subject pages of the Web site, at the top of the pages you will see the following navigational aid:

Lectures       PAGE (1 of 1)

A section title is listed at the left followed by a page indicator/count for the size of the section. The next two buttons allow one to progress between pages of the current section.

Frame Usage

To adjust the width of the frame, move the mouse arrow cursor over the frame separation bar until the icon changes to an adjust icon, <-->, as show at the right. The click and drag to the desired width.

Non-local Documents

Students should be aware that some of the hypertext links in these course notes are to documents that are NOT located on computers at Va Tech. Thus some of these documents may be inaccessible at times, due to network considerations. By choosing the Show Location/Show URLs option from the Options menu of Netscape/Mosaic and positioning the cursor over linked text one can determine if a document is non-local. If the URL for the document does not contain "vt.edu" somewhere in it then the document is not located on a Va Tech computer.

Further Study and FYI

If the following icon, is located to the right of linked text it indicates that the link has been placed there for students to pursue outside of class. These documents are resources of further explanations of concepts covered in class and provided For Your Information as needed.
