3. Quantization
Figure 2 shows an anlog signal being quantized.
If the height of each bar is translated into a digital number, then the signal is said to be
represented by pulse-code modulation, or PCM.
The sampling frequency commonly used is 8000 Hz. The quatization level is 8 bits.
The file size of one second speech is about 64 Kbits.
