Software Engineer/Programmer
Description
- SW designs and develops the software necessary to run an Internet server
- SW design servers, routers, and firewalls
- SW sets up the accounts for a company
- Programmer implement and maintains the server and/or routers, and any applications needed for their site
- Usually these two jobs are performed by the same person (Software Engineer/Programmer)
- Skills:
- Basic knowledge of Operating Systems, and Internetworking
- Knowledge of several languages including Java, HTML, C++, and CGI.
- Experience with Unix Systems and knowledge of Database Systems
- Familiarity with most Internet browsers.
- Communication skills are necessary in supporting clients
Education Requirement
- Degrees in technical fields such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Acquire basic training from their formal education and get some Internet coverage via these degrees
- Presently, acquire majority of their Internet knowledge on their own from reading and experience
Salary
- Range of $30K-$70K depending on education level and experience.
