Notes:

These are the areas I want to cover. Emphasis is on providing a context for use of WWW in classroom to a computer science audience, so that they may better see what effective use of WWW means in a K-12 setting.

Technology vs. pedagogy: computer scientists see the world differently from educators. What problems does this pose?

Environments: How to the typical environments and backgrounds differ?

Teaching methodologies: What are the basic approaches to teaching? Which are the more natural fit with technology? Which are most people familiar with?

Typical current applications: What characterises most use of the WWW in education? Which mould does this fall into? Is it effective?

Realistic applications: What can realistically be achieved in a K-12 classroom? Some examples.

Critical literacy: The big picture! What is it we’re trying to achieve here?

The future?: Some crystal ball gazing and likely trends.
